History
The Importance of History
Through the study of History, pupils are taught to ask and answer analytical questions about prior events. Historical study enables pupils to explore their place in the world. By learning how people lived in the past, pupils are better able to make their own life choices today.
Vision
Across their time at our school, we will promote history as a vital part of a well-rounded education. Curiosity is one of our core values and we certainly want our children to be curious within their lessons. Throughout the teaching of history, pupils will enhance their critical thinking skills by exploring, questioning and scrutinising information to help them learn about the past. Our pupils will develop a sense of chronology. Through this they come to understand, value and respect their own and other people's cultures. By learning how people lived in the past, they are better able to make their own life choices today. Historical study skills are transferable. Our curriculum promotes this. Throughout their learning, pupils will establish how their work as historians helps them across the curriculum and prepares them for their futures/their future careers.
